Rose has been our musical director since September 2019 and has led the choir through some challenging times, during the pandemic, and onwards to find the joy of singing together and performing once again.
She is a member of the Natural Voice Network and has been leading choirs for 15 years, in community, health and workplace settings.
She has a wide ranging repertoire of songs, including songs from southern Africa, Hawaii, Georgia, Czech Republic and Ireland.
She also arranges acapella songs herself and sings in the vocal group The Lovenotes.
“I just want to say how wonderful this afternoon has been – I very much enjoyed my first experience of the Choir – it was a really fulfilling experience for me and I felt so welcome, I enjoyed the singing and it was all just great. Rose is an absolute gem!“ (New member Sept 2022)
“I came to the Taster session on Sunday and felt very welcome and thought it was an enjoyable session. I thought the way Rose taught the songs was absolutely delightful and she is a marvellous inspirer. All choir leaders should have her joie de vivre ! Thank you for making me welcome, and I know the choir will continue to be an inspiration to so many.” (Taster session visitor Oct 2022)
In Manchester Community Choir we learn songs by ear, from teach tracks on the website. During lockdown, when we weren't meeting in person, rehearsals were held on Zoom.
Rose did a great job of making this strange situation enjoyable. Ever resourceful, she created inspiring teaching videos to support our singing. Even though we were at home alone, we could still have that whole choir feeling!
